The Business end of PRB

Looking at the bow of PRB, you can see how the flair develops down the length of the hull.  The area created by this flair is where the water ballast tanks are located. The small bow sprit if for tacking down the asymmetric spinnakers when close reaching.  Some boats also had roller-furling jib tops which were set on drums out on the sprit.
